The first Green Finance International Forum “Foro Internacional de Finanzas Verdes (FIFV)”, was held on July 18, 2019 at the Hotel Embajador in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It was organized by the Dominican Republic Stock Exchange “Bolsa y Mercados de Valores de la República Dominicana (BVRD)”. The participants were representatives of Law firms, Capital Market experts, Listing Advisors from the Dominican Republic Stock Exchange, international issuers, investors, and general public from the sector. From DCSX, our COO – Abedd Hammoud and our Commercial Officer – Diana Intriago, attended.

The  program had the following focal points which were presented by experts and discussed during panel sessions:

• General view of Green Finance
• Issuance of sustainable securities. Success cases and main challenges.
• Next steps towards the development of Green Bonds.
• Financial strategy for climate issues.
• Sustainable Investments trends.
• The importance of sustainable principles in investments.

In conclusion, they explained that the green bonds are financial instruments whose funds are used exclusively to finance or refinance, in part or in full, eligible Green Projects, whether new and/or existing. And that, in an environment in which companies are increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability, these instruments have established themselves as a financing alternative.
