The Curaçao Innovation & Technology Institute (‘CITI”), together with the Ministry of Economic Development, organized the KICKSTART CURAÇAO INNOVATHON on October 19th, 2018 at PWFC. 18 groups worked on their solutions that will help “kickstart” the development of our Island through innovation and presented their project in front of a jury.

The Dutch Caribbean Securities Exchange (“DCSX”) had the opportunity to contribute to this event as a member of the jury. Mr. Abedd Hammoud (DCSX Chief Operations Officer) was our representative who along with the other jury members had the difficult task to select the five best ideas.
By the end of the night, the 5 best ideas were selected. Now it’s time to work on those ideas. In the coming months, for each of the winning ideas, CITI will organize a Think Tank and develop a (pre) feasibility plan. CITI and MEO have committed to supporting the five winning ideas. But they and the entrepreneurs and innovators that own these ideas need the local community’s help to make them a success.
At the DCSX we understand the importance of having such events as the “Kickstart Curaçao Innovathon” in this era of innovation. We were very happy to contribute to this initiative.
