DCSX was invited by the “Ministry of Economic Development” (“MEO”) to participate in the trade mission to Colombia they coordinated alongside the “Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland” (“RVO”) from 25 to 29 November 2018. We, of course, signed up, as this is a great opportunity for us to promote our business on this potential market. Also, we support MEO in their efforts to strengthen the position of local companies, internationally, as a way to open our island to more commercial possibilities.

The organization of this trade mission was excellent, they didn’t miss a detail. The organizers had previous interviews with us to examine our objectives in the mission and to elaborate the matchmaking agenda with Colombian parties related to our business.

This mission had the honor to have the presence of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte, Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Netherlands, Mrs. Carola Schouten and Minister for Medical Care and Sport of the Netherlands, Mr. Bruno Bruins, our Minister of Economic Development, Drs. Steven Martina and Mrs. Xiomara Ruiz-Maduro, the Aruban Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Culture.

The Mission was divided into 4 sectors: Agribusiness & Horticulture, Life Science & Health, Water & Logistics, Bicycle Mobility; and each group traveled to a specific city. DCSX was part of the Life Science & Health, as there was not a “Financial Sector”, the organizers recommended this option to be able to do the matchmakings with the proper companies in Cali and Bogota.

Our Commercial Officer, Diana Intriago, traveled to Colombia for the Mission, representing the DCSX in all the meetings, networking events and matchmaking sessions; expanding our business opportunities on a country with many potentials as Colombia. Our CEO, Mr. René Römer and our COO Mr. Abedd Hammoud briefly attended the mission as well in order to meet with valuable contacts for the first time.

The mission was successfully closed on November 28, 2018, with the official photo with the whole delegation (more than 110 companies) including the Prime Minister of the Netherlands and the Ministers of the Netherlands, Curaçao, and Aruba After this we got the opportunity to meet and greet with all the participants and exchange our experience on this great mission.

The DCSX will be in close relation with our new Colombian contacts and hope to bring more good news soon.
