The students of the International Business & Management Studies of the University of Curaçao organized the “WillemSmart” conference on November 27, 2019, a fundraising event for their study trip to Medellin in January 2020. The main purpose of the event was to share and discuss the possibilities and opportunities of smart technologies that will help to make Willemstad, the lovely capital of our island Curaçao, into a Smart City.

The program consisted of the presentation of several interrelated topics such as Smart Environment, Smart Mobility, Smart Living, Smart People, Smart Governance and Smart Economy presented by knowledgeable speakers including our Minister of traffic, transportation and urban planning, Mrs. Zita Jesus Leito, Kris Bouwstra (Dynaff Group), Nelson Mambre (Smart Mobility Foundation), David Levy Maduro (CX Pay), Edirel Susana (University of Curaçao), Juvira Briceño (Public Figure) and Guido Rojer (University of Curaçao). The event finalized with a panel discussion that focused on the challenges for Willemstad on becoming a smart city and a networking session.
